Warehouse Optimization Manager

Position Summary  

The Warehouse Optimization Manager (WOM) is a high level individual contributor role that will work directly with warehouse managers and supervisors on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads the identification and roll-out of continuous improvement projects
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in work methods, efficiency techniques and warehouse management software
  • Assesses warehouse capacity utilization and coordinates corrective actions with cross functional groups
  • Defines, develops, and manages policies and procedures, process flows and tools to boost the effectiveness of all warehouse functions
  • Creates forecast models and defines and reports on key performance metrics including warehouse labor, slotting, capacity and customer delivery data
  • Interfaces with cross-functional teams to establish and boost alignment and synergy, gaining buy-in from stakeholders
  • Develops and presents proposed strategy initiatives. Thinks globally and acts locally

Key Competencies:

Distribution and Processing -- Knowledge of materials, warehouse processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods.

Administration and Management -- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Developing and Building Teams -- Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.

Judgment and Decision Making -- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

Management of Financial Resources -- Determining how money will be spent to get the work done, in the most cost effective manner available, and accounting for these expenditures.

Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards -- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

Coaching and Developing Others -- Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.

Oral Expression and Comprehension -- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

Written Expression -- The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or similar experience required; Graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in warehouse analysis with a focus on implementation, and project management preferred; experience working within a distribution environment highly valued
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word, MS Project and a facility mapping tool (i.e., AutoCAD) and experience utilizing a warehouse management system preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with ability to engage and motivate others
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Demonstrates competency in analytical and problem-solving skills
